SO SMART
EMI has told Danger Mouse that his latest CD won’t see the light of day due to “legal issues,” so he’s responding by releasing the disc as a blank CD-R in a jewel case with art and liner notes. Fans can just download the music off a P2P site and burn it to the CD-R.
Boom.
Reminds me of a CD that went missing at work. Jewel case, etc. still there. I was initially choked til I realized that I can just burn a copy from my iTunes, hell- even do a vinyl rip if I really wanted to. Same diff.
Once the major labels wise up to this….ahh nevermind. It’s too late.
Brilliant. I’d buy it just for the pleasure of being vicariously involved in a wonderful fuck-you to the copyright...
I might buy a CD (not at a show) for the first time in 10 years or so. WOW.
Way to go Danger Mouse!
