I come from a military family and when we were little all of the adults would use this alphabet to spell out things they didn’t want the kids to understand.

My favorite was the word for ice cream: “India Charlie”.

I still remember when we figured it out.

My wife worked for a while at the international reservation desk of (see title) and to learn it we talked for a week in this alfabet together. We use it now to shield our doughters ears also :)
